Got sun damage or dark spots? The Photofacial IPL (IPL) may be the right treatment for you!
The Photofacial treatment is a great rejuvenation laser. It uses light energy to stimulate new Collagen production in the skin. This helps reduce the appearance of sun damaged skin, improves skin tone, removes dark spots, improves skin texture, decreases rosacea and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The Photofacial treatment isn’t just for the face, it can also be used to treat sun damage on the body such as neck, chest, arms, legs and hands.

How does IPL work?
IPL works by delivering a precise amount of light energy to the skin. The damaged tissue in the skin absorbs the light energy and produces new collagen in its place. This newly formed collagen is what improves the skin.
When can I expect to see results?
You can start to see results after just one week, but your skin will continue to improve as collagen regenerates over time. Some people are happy after just one treatment, but many can benefit from a series of treatments if they have a lot of sun damage or rosacea.
What are some pre-treatment instructions for the Photofacial?
Avoid sun exposure for 1-3 weeks prior to treatment and use SPF 30 to protect your skin. Don’t use any self-tanning products for 1-3 weeks prior to treatment. Discontinue use of any tretinoin or retinol for 2-3 days before your treatment. If you get cold sores, start taking Valtrex at least one day before your treatment.
What to expect at your Photofacial appointment
Your provider will first consult with you and determine the best treatment plan to meet your aesthetic goals. They will apply numbing cream on the area you’d like to treat. After about 30-45 minutes of numbing, your provider will begin the treatment!
Does the Photofacial treatment hurt?
The sensation is similar to a rubber band snap. We let you numb for 30-45 minutes to make the treatment more comfortable.
What to expect after my Photofacial treatment/what are some after care instructions?
You may feel like you’ve been sunburned immediately after your treatment. Your dark spots will initially appear darker, but it will flake off or lighten in the next week or two. Do not pick or exfoliate the area. Always use SPF 30 or higher on the treated area and wear a hat or cover treated area with clothing for 2 weeks after your treatment to avoid direct sun exposure. You can return to your normal skin care routine 3 days after treatment.
