About LaseMD

As you age, collagen and elastin–essential proteins that help your skin maintain its elasticity and structure–naturally decline. This can result in fine lines, age spots, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. UV exposure can cause the skin to age prematurely (photoaging), contributing to approximately 80% of skin aging. (2) Over time, the effects of sun damage become more noticeable as collagen levels continue to decline. LaseMD treatments rejuvenate the skin with gentle beams of laser energy to penetrate the skin’s deeper layers and improve collagen levels. LaseMD is a nonablative laser, meaning it triggers collagen production in the deeper layers of your skin to help it renew naturally. LaseMD addresses changes to the hands, face, and neck by improving skin tone and texture.

Skin resurfacing treatments are an effective, noninvasive way to reduce signs of aging; in 2023, specialists performed more than 3.5 million of these kinds of procedures to help patients improve their complexion. (3) With laser treatments, we can address:

  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Acne
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Scars
  • Melasma

Benefits

There are several benefits to LaseMD treatments, including:

  • Improved appearance: Increasing your skin’s collagen levels can reduce uneven pigmentation for a more even skin tone and brighter complexion.
  • Customizable treatment: The targeted laser energy can strategically address scars, pigmentation, and signs of aging while preserving the surrounding skin.
  • Gentle skin rejuvenation: The laser stimulates collagen in your skin’s deeper layers, naturally renewing your appearance over time.
  • Minimal downtime: As long as you avoid excessive sun exposure, you can return to most of your normal activities afterward.
  • Smoother skin texture: Reducing acne scars can result in a more radiant look with lasting results.

Candidates

Suitable candidates for LaseMD treatments would like to address a dull or uneven skin tone for a brighter complexion. You are likely a good fit for the treatment if you have sun-damaged skin, large pores, or acne scars. Candidates must be prepared to take good care of their skin.

If you have a skin condition affecting your candidacy, we need to know in order to create a treatment plan that helps you meet your goals. LaseMD is well-tolerated and suitable for most skin types.

Consultation

During your consultation, we will examine your skin and ask about your aesthetic goals to create a personalized treatment plan for your needs. We will also need to discuss your medical history and any skin conditions that could affect your results. Please come prepared with any questions you have about the treatment.

We can also discuss additional treatments such as Botox to prevent fine lines and/or dermal fillers to restore volume to your skin. To learn more about our additional treatments, see the blog!

Preparation

To prepare for LaseMD, you must stop taking blood thinners and refrain from using products containing retinol. You will also need to limit sun exposure and stay hydrated. If you experience a breakout in the treatment area or sun damage, we will likely delay your appointment until your skin heals.

Treatment Process

During your treatment, we will cleanse your skin and apply a topical anesthetic. You must arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and skincare products. If you have sensitive skin, we can also apply a numbing cream for a comfortable treatment.

We will use a hand-held device to administer the laser energy to your skin. The laser energy will stimulate collagen production by creating tiny thermal zones in the skin which can accelerate your body’s ability to create new tissue. The length of your treatment will depend on the size of the treatment area. One session typically takes 30 minutes.

After Your Treatment

After your treatment, you can return home. Although the treatment does not require significant downtime, you must avoid excessive sun exposure. Your skin may appear mildly flushed afterward, and it can take 5-7 days for your skin to heal completely from the laser. You should avoid wearing makeup while your skin heals from the laser treatment. If you need a series of laser treatments, we will let you know when to follow up for your next session.

Results

After a LaseMD treatment, you can enjoy smoother, brighter skin and a more even tone. Since the treatment improves your skin’s collagen levels over time, you can enjoy continuous improvements for six months to a year if you take good care of your skin.

Corresponding Procedures

If you are interested in other cosmetic treatments in addition to LaseMD, speak with your DermFx professional during your personal consultation. We offer a variety of rejuvenating procedures that can provide patients with more comprehensive results when combined.

Botox

Botox is a neuromodulator that can help you achieve smoother skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The injectable relaxes the facial muscles by reducing the release of acetylcholine–a neurotransmitter and hormone responsible for muscle contractions. As you age and the collagen levels in your skin decline, your facial expressions can start to wear on your skin. Botox can reduce them and act as a form of preventative care against them for a smoother complexion. Do not let fine lines develop into deep wrinkles when a simple, well-tolerated injectable can treat them so you can enjoy a more youthful appearance.

Exosomes

Exosomes are tiny membranes that communicate with cells in your body to support tissue repair. We can perform a stand-alone treatment or combine your LaseMD treatment with exosomes to accelerate your skin’s recovery process.

Hydrafacial

A hydrafacial is a dermabrasion treatment that clarifies and brightens your skin with vortex technology for smoother skin. The gentle, noninvasive treatment can transform your skin without downtime and help you achieve that “glass skin” look for a lasting, dewy glow. The in-office treatment refreshes your skin in three steps–cleanse, exfoliate, and extract–to remove impurities from the skin and moisturize it with nutrients, antioxidants, and peptides.
